With President's consent, CEC and EC Appointment Bill becomes law

President Abdul Hamid today gave consent to the bill titled "Appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners Bill-2022", parliament secretariat has said.

With the president giving consent to the bill, it has now become a law.

A Search Committee as mentioned in the law is yet to be formed.

Sources at the Bangabhaban said gazette on the Search Committee is likely to be issued within a day or two.

With some minor changes, the parliament on Thursday passed the bill to the opposition of BNP, Jatiya Party, Gonoforum and Workers Party MPs.
