Pre election violence in Jashore: Injured man dies

A man who was injured in a clash between two chairman candidates at Goga union under Sharsha upazila in Jashore on October 23, died at his house today.

The victim was identified as Ali Fakir (50), resident of Pachvolat village of the upazila, reports our Benapole correspondent quoting Badrul Alam Khan, officer-in-charge of Sharsha Police Station.

Police recovered the dead body this afternoon and sent it to Jashore General Hospital morgue for autopsy, informed the OC.

On October 23, Goga union chairman candidate Tobibor Rahman along with his supporters went to Jashore to buy nomination papers.

On the way to their home, another candidate Abdur Rashid's supporter carried out an attack on the supporters of Tobibor where 12 persons including Ali Fakir were injured.

A case was filed in this regard earlier but police are yet to arrest anyone in this connection.
