Defeated mayoral candidate of the recently-held Cumilla City Corporation election Monirul Haque Sakku has appealed to Election Commission to cancel four polling centers' results and reelection at those centres.

Sakku, a two-time mayor, applied to the EC on June 24, a day after the gazette of the election results published.

Sakku told The Daily Star that anomalies took place at Victoria Govt College, Dishaband old and new buildings, and Shalbon centres.

That's why, he appealed to the EC for reelection at the four centres after cancelling the results, he added.

In the June 15 election, independent candidate Monirul Haque Sakku got 49,967 votes. Awami League-nominated candidate Arfanul Haque Rifat won the polls by bagging 50,310 votes.
