Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal estimated that voter turnout in the by-polls to six constituencies held today to be between 15 and 25 percent.

The by-polls to the six constituencies were held peacefully and there were no allegations of vote rigging and other irregularities, Habibul said while talking with reporters at the EC office after the completion of voting.

By-elections to Thakurgaon-3, Bogura-4 and 6, Chapainawabganj-2 and 3, and Brahmanbaria-2 were held as those seats fell vacant following the resignations of six BNP lawmakers in December last year.

"The voter turnout was relatively low. It can be approximately 15, 20 or 25 percent," said the CEC.

"You'll have to wait a little longer for an accurate turnout figure," he said.
