The voter turnout stood at around 50 percent in the Narayanganj City Corporation election held today, said Election Commission Secretary Humayun Kabir Khandaker.

The voting was held in a free, fair and peaceful manner, he also said, adding that no complaints were made.

The EC secretary said this while talking to reporters at the Election Commission Secretariat in the capital after voting ended this afternoon.

Mentioning that there were some incidents or voters facing problems to cast their votes due to malfunction of the electronic voting machines (EVMs), Humayun Kabir said the issues were resolved.

"Everyone who came to the election centres could cast their votes. No one was sent away," he added.

Earlier today, voting began at 8:00am and ended peacefully at 4:00pm without any untoward incident being reported.

There are 517,361 voters registered at 192 centres under the Narayanganj City Corporation.
