Universities should adopt transparent recruitment process: president

President Abdul Hamid today said that the universities should adopt a transparent recruitment process, stop the politics of sycophancy and ensure the staying of genuine students at the university dormitories.

The head of the state also said that the vice-chancellors of the universities should play an effective role in this regard.

Abdul Hamid said this when Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University Vice-Chancellor Rear Admiral Mohammad Musa, Feni University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Jamal Uddin Ahmed and Rangamati Science and Technology University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Selina Akhtar called on him at the Bangabhaban.

The president welcomed the vice-chancellors and exchanged greetings with them.

Meanwhile, the VCs informed the president about their respective universities and sought his direction and cooperation in all matters. The president listened to them patiently and assured cooperation.

Hamid emphasised on providing quality education in the universities and ensuring a fair environment for learning.

The president requested the VCs to conduct employment-oriented and life-oriented education curricula in the universities.

He also emphasised on increasing research activities in universities.
