Will work to push China-Bangladesh Strategic Partnership to new heights: Xi Jinping

Chinese President Xi Jinping has said he is willing to work with Bangladesh to push the China-Bangladesh Strategic Partnership of Cooperation to new heights.

In a letter of felicitation to Bangladesh President Md Abdul Hamid on Bangladesh's 51st Independence Day, he said China and Bangladesh are close neighbours, traditional friends and strategic partners.

In recent years, Chinese cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative is making sound progress, injecting new impetus into bilateral relations and bringing more benefits to the people of both countries.

"I set great store by the development of China-Bangladesh relations," Xi Jinping said, according to the Chinese Embassy verified Facebook page today.

Bangladesh is taking active measures to fight Covid-19 and striving for social and economic recovery, with remarkable progress already made, and is marching ahead toward the "Sonar Bangla" dream, he also said.

"It is deeply delightful for China to see the achievements of Bangladesh," said Jinping.

Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang and Foreign Minister Wang Yi also sent letters of felicitations to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen respectively, marking the day.

Premier Li said in recent years, the China-Bangladesh strategic partnership of cooperation maintains sound momentum, bearing rich fruits of cooperation in all areas.

"I attach great importance to our bilateral relations. To benefit our two countries and peoples, I reassure the commitment to work with you to enhance the integration of development strategies of our two countries and to advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation," he said.
