US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has reaffirmed America's long-standing partnership with Bangladesh in development, economic growth, and security.

In a statement today, US State Department Spokesperson Ned Price spoke of a phone call between Blinken and Bangladesh's Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen last evening.

They discussed the importance of human rights and agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation and address shared global challenges, Price said.

Blinken, who is on a visit to Southeast Asia, made the call after the US on December 10 imposed sanctions on Rab and seven of its current and former top officials.

Foreign ministry officials said Momen was at Bangabhaban when Blinken called him and they spoke for about 30 minutes.

During the call, Momen requested Blinken consult Dhaka before any action. They agreed to work together and take forward the multidimensional relationship forward.
