Foreign diplomats pay respect to Bangabandhu

Foreign missions in Dhaka have expressed their deep respect for Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on National Mourning Day.

They placed floral wreaths at Bangabandhu's portrait in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi Road No 32 in the capital today.

Indian High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami, after placing flower wreaths, tweeted "Respectful homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on his martyrdom.

"#India shares the grief of #Bangladesh. We are inspired to protect the values #Bangabandhu stood for," he said.

UK High Commissioner to Dhaka, Robert Chatterton Dickson, tweeted that on this day, he reflects on the extraordinary life of #Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his contribution to Bangladesh and the world.

He said the UK is proud to support the people of Bangladesh as they strive to build an open and prosperous future.

Australian High Commission Bangladesh said it joins Bangladeshis to commemorate and reflect solemnly on the occasion of the National Mourning Day, which marks the 46th death anniversary of Father of the Nation, 'Bangabandhu', Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

UN Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh, Mia Seppo, said UN in Bangladesh pays respect to the Father of the Nation and all martyrs, and the vision #Bangabandhu set for independent Bangladesh.
