Bangladesh to construct Buddhist monastery in Nepal

Bangladesh has signed an agreement with Lumbini Development Trust for the construction of a Buddhist monastery in Lumbini, Nepal.

The agreement was signed by Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury and Vice-chairman of the Lumbini Development Trust (LDT) Metteyya Sakyaputta on behalf of their respective sides at a simple ceremony held at the LDT headquarters yesterday afternoon.

Under the agreement, Bangladesh government will construct a monastery on the plot allotted by the Lumbini Development Trust for the purpose, said a press release issued by the Bangladesh embassy in Kathmandu.

From the LDT, Project Chief Saroj Bhattarai and from the embassy, First Secretary Md Alamgir Islam Khan were also present at the signing ceremony, added the release.
