Bangladesh appoints new ambassadors to Geneva, Denmark, Australia

Bangladesh has appointed new ambassadors to Geneva, Denmark and Australia.

AKM Shahidul Karim, currently serving as Bangladesh ambassador to Bhutan, has been appointed as the new ambassador to Denmark.

Mohammad Sufiur Rahman, currently serving as the Bangladesh High Commissioner to Australia, has been appointed as the next permanent representative of Bangladesh to the UN Offices in Geneva and ambassador of Bangladesh to Switzerland.

M Allama Siddiki, currently serving as Bangladesh ambassador to Denmark, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Australia.

Ambassador Shahidul Karim is a career foreign service officer belonging to the 18th batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Foreign Affairs cadre. He has served extensively in various capacities both at the foreign ministry in Dhaka as well as in Bangladesh missions abroad such as Stockholm, Cairo, and London.

He was the Bangladesh consul General in Jeddah. Just before leaving for his maiden ambassadorial assignment in Bhutan, Shahidul Karim served as the chief of protocol at the foreign ministry in Dhaka.

Mohammad Sufiur Rahman is a career foreign service officer belonging to ninth batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service Foreign Affairs cadre. He has served both at the foreign ministry in Dhaka and Bangladesh missions abroad such as New Delhi, Geneva, and Islamabad. He also served as Director at SAARC Secretariat in Kathmandu.

Before Australia, Sufiur served as the Bangladesh High Commissioner to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh ambassador to Myanmar.

Allama Siddiki is a career foreign service officer belonging to the 10th batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service Foreign Affairs cadre. He has served in Dhaka as well as in Bangladesh missions abroad such as Tokyo, Kolkata, Islamabad, and London.

Before Denmark, Allama Siddiki served as Bangladesh ambassador to Türkiye.
