AL always thinks of taking the country forward: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said the Awami League always thinks of modern ways to take the country forward at an unbeatable pace.

The PM made the remark at an event marking the completion of the work of the South Tube of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel under the Karnaphuli.

She officially announced the completion of the tunnel's south side.

Hasina joined the event, organised by the Bridges Division in Chattogram, virtually from the Gono Bhaban.

Coming down heavily on a section of people who "don't see any development by the AL government", she said they need to see doctors.

"Many people do not see our development... they have problems with their eyes.. they can see doctors. We have set up a very good ophthalmological institute. I think they can go there for treatment, then they might see everything."

She said Ziaur Rahman, HM Ershad and Khaleda Zia had never even thought of constructing a tunnel under a river.

A documentary on the tunnel was screened at the programme.
