Youth put on 2-day remand for commenting on Azhari’s video on Facebook

A youth was put on two-day remand today (June 29, 2022) in a connection with a case filed for allegedly hurting religious sentiments and creating public anger by commenting on Mizanur Rahman Azhari's video on Facebook.

A Khulna court granted Utpal Mandal's (29) remand prayer when he was produced before the court following a case filed against him by police, reports our Khulna correspondent quoting Md Mahbub Hossain, superintendent of Police of Khulna.

ABMS Dwoha, officer-in-charge of Koyra Police Station, said police filed the case against him under the Penal Code in this regard, he added.

Yesterday (Tuesday), some youths carried out an attack at Utpal Mandal's house and vandalised a part of his house following his comment.

Shafiqul Islam Sardar, a union parishad member, claimed that the youths could not cause much damage of the house after being barred by locals.

"Being informed, locals rushed to spot and barred them while they were vandalising the house. A small part of his house was damaged," said the UP member.

Police rushed to spot and detained four attackers and Utpal. Later, the four attackers were released through arbitration. But Utpal was shown arrested today in the case.
