Woman’s body recovered from Bagerhat hotel; husband detained

Police today recovered hanging body of a woman and detained her husband from Hotel Bilash in Bagerhat's Rahater Mor area.

The deceased was identified as Nasima Khatun (34), wife of Robiul Islam Rubel, reports our local correspondent.

Md Humayun, manager of the hotel, said that Rubel and Nasima checked-in at the hotel yesterday. This afternoon, Rubel went outside to bring food and when he returned to the hotel, the room was locked from inside and there was no response from Nasima.  

"Later, Rubel informed me of the situation, so I called police," the manager said.

Bagerhat Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC), KM Azizul Islam, said, "We rushed to the spot after getting information. We found Nasima's body hanging from a fan in the hotel room. Police detained her husband Rubel for interrogation. The hotel manager has also been brought to police station for questioning.

The deceased's body has been sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy to determine the cause of death. The deceased's family members have been notified, the OC said.

Further legal action will be taken after investigation, the OC added.
