Woman run over, killed by robbers stealing her cattle

A truck driven by a gang of robbers ran over a woman, killing her, as she

and her son were trying to stop them from stealing her cattle in Poncho Sarutia shoal of Sirjganj's Sadar upazila early today.

Her son was injured in the incident.

The deceased was identified as Selina Khatun, 45, wife of Amir Chan.

A gang of robbers broke into their house around 4:00am and loaded te family's cattle onto the truck.

When Selina and her son, Jubayer Hossain, realised that robbers had stolen two cows and were fleeing, they tried to stop the vehicle by standing in front of it, said Sub-Inspector of Sirajganj Sadar Police Station Md Hossain Ali.

The robbers ploughed the truck over the two, leaving Selina dead and Jubayer injured.

The body was sent to Sirajganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy while Jubayer was admitted to the same hospital, the SI said.

Police seized the vehicle used by the robbers also recovered the stolen cows from the spot.
