Three land grabbers arrested for beating up journalist in Lalmonirhat

Police today have arrested three people accused of beating up journalist Selim Shamrat, at Hatibandha upazila in Lalmonirhat.

The arrested are: Ali Reza Badal, Taijul Islam Mukut, and Taijul's son Mirajul Islam Hridoy. Hatibandha police arrested them today from Parulia Ghat area of the upazila, our local correspondent reports quoting police.

Hatibandha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC), Ershadul Alam, said that a case was lodged on July 11 by Selim Shamrat -- Hatibandha correspondent of the local newspaper Bahannor Alo -- after he was assaulted by land grabbers while collecting information in Barakhata area of the upazila.

Ali Reza Badal, Taijul Islam Mukut, and Taijul's son Mirajul Islam Hridoy were arrested by police today, said the OC, adding that they had been on the run since the incident,
