Teen raped in Noakhali

A 15-year-old girl was raped in Noakhali's Kabirhat upazila on Tuesday night.

According to the victim's family, the girl and her family were attending a wedding in Kabirhat Pourashava.

A garment worker of about 25 years of age, also a distant cousin of the victim, took her to the roof of a residential building and raped her.

He ran away from the scene after the girl started bleeding profusely.

The locals informed the mayor of Kabirhat who called the police.

The victim's father filed a case with the Kabirhat Police Station yesterday, accusing the garment worker of rape.

The teen has been hospitalised. Police will record her statement and proceed with a medical examination as soon as her health improves.

"The accused is absconding while his family members are also in hiding. We are trying our best to track them and make the arrest," said Rafiqul, officer-in-charge of Kabirhat Police Station.
