Cases against Pori Moni and Raaz handed over to DB

The two cases filed under Narcotics Control Act against Pori Moni and movie producer Nazrul Islam Raaz were handed over to Detective Branch of Police for further investigation.

Nure Alam Miah, officer-in-charge of Banani Police Station confirmed the latest development to The Daily Star around 11:15pm tonight.

Earlier, a Dhaka court today placed film actress Pori Moni and three others on a four-day remand in connection with two cases filed under the Narcotics Control Act.

The three others are Ashraful Islam alias Dipu, associate of Pori Moni, Raaz, owner of Raaz Multimedia, and one of his associates – Md Sabuj Ali.

The court of Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mamunur Rashid passed the orders.

Sheikh Sohel Rana, inspector (investigation), submitted the remand prayers.

Additional Public Prosecutor Tapash Kumar Pal confirmed all the above developments to our court correspondent. 

Earlier around 8:30pm, police sought seven-day remand for each of the four accused after producing them before the court.

The two cases were filed with Banani Police Station in Dhaka in the evening today, according to Rapid Action Battalion.

Rab members took Pori Moni to the police station around 5:00pm from Rab headquarters.

Khandaker Al Moen, director of Rapid Action Battalion's media wing, confirmed the developments during a briefing today.

The development came a day after Rapid Action Battalion members, during a raid yesterday, found huge stash of narcotics and alcohol at Pori Moni's home in Banani.

Rapid Action Battalion members detained movie producer and actor MD Nazrul Islam Raaz, chairman of Raaz Multimedia, along with two others, in a raid at his house in Banani last night.
