PMO document forgery: Court accepts charges against NSU treasurer, 7 others

A Dhaka court today (July 21, 2022) accepted the charges against eight people, including North South University Treasurer Mohammad Shahjahan and former treasurer of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) Air Commodore (retd) Robiul Awal for document forgery at the Prime Minister's Office. 

The six others are former central Chhatra League Vice President Tariqul Islam Momin, PMO staff Fatema Khatun, Nazim Uddin, Mohamnad Rubel, North South University student Forhad Hossain, and former BUP treasurer Air Commodore (retd) M Abdus Salam Azad.

Of them, Robiul and Azad are still at large.

Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge's Court of Dhaka took cognizance of charges against them after scrutinizing case dockets and other relevant documents. 

The judge issued arrest warrants against Robiul and Azad as they were shown fugitives in the charge sheet. 

The judge directed officer-in-charge of Tejgaon Police Station to submit the report on execution of arrest warrant against the two fugitives by August 31.

Earlier on May 18 this year, ACC Deputy Director Farid Ahmed Patwary and also the investigation officer of the case, submitted a charge sheet against them.

On May 5, 2020, Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, director-7 of PMO, filed the case with the Tejgaon police station against the eight accused.
