Piyasha charged in another drug case

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today pressed charges against model and former TV presenter Faria Mahbub Piyasha in another case filed with Gulshan Police Station under Narcotics Control Act.

CID Inspector Md Abdul Latif, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka.

In the charge sheet, 13 people have been made prosecution witnesses.

The IO, in the charge sheet, said the charges brought against Piyasha was primarily proven and she should be brought under trial for her offences.

Detectives on August 1 arrested Piyasha from her Baridhara residence. They seized 780 pieces of yaba tablets, eight bottles of foreign alcohol and four cans beer from her residence.

Later, she was placed on a four-day remand in the case filed with Gulshan Police Station.

After getting information from her in remand, detectives on August 5 also seized 7,200 pieces of yaba from the city's Bhatara area.

A case against Piyasha and her associate Sharful Hasan alias Mishu Hasan was filed with Bhatara Police Station under the Narcotices Control Act.

Yesterday, CID pressed charges against Piyasha and Mishu in the case.
