One arrested over gang-rape in Ctg

One person has been arrested, among four accused, over a gang-rape of a 25-year-old woman in Chattogram's Baizid-Foujdarhat Link Road area last night (July 23, 2022).

The victim has been admitted to the One Stop Crisis Centre at Chattogram Medical College Hospital for treatment, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent quoting police.

The incident happened at Bridge area-2 of the Baizid-Foujdarhat Link Road, under Sitakunda Police Station, said Additional Superintendent of Police (Sitakunda Circle) Ashraful Karim.

One alleged rapist, Bappi, was arrested after the victim called 999, said Ashraful.

The accused four assured the victim of getting her a job at a garment factory then took her to the place of the incident and raped her there last night, said the Addl SP quoting the victim.

"She said she was raped there by four persons. She went to the OSCC at CMCH after the incident and informed police through the national emergency number," added the police official.

Akbar Shah Police of metro first dealt with the issue after being dispatched with the 999 call. "As the crime scene is under Sitakunda Police Station jurisdiction, we are now investigating it," he added.
