No evidence of explosives at site of Gulistan blast: DMP commissioner

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruq today said they did not get any evidence of explosive materials at the site of the Gulistan blast that left at least 17 killed and over 100 injured yesterday.

Experts from different agencies including Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit, Criminal Investigation Department and Army worked there and said they did not find any evidence of explosives at the site, he said during his visit to Siddique Bazar area this morning.

The commissioner said they will look into whether there was any septic tank or leakage in the basement as the explosion occurred there.

Earlier, fire and police officials said they suspected that the explosion took place from accumulated gas.
