Nigerian female prisoner at Kashimpur jail dies after falling sick

A Nigerian female prisoner at Kashimpur Central Women's Jail in Gazipur died yesterday.

The prisoner, Chidimma Abelf (26) was arrested in a case filed under the Digital Security Act at Dakshinkhan Police Station in Dhaka, reports our Gazipur correspondent quoting Halima Khatun, senior jail superintendent of Kashimpur Central Women's Jail.

The woman fell ill in jail on Wednesday (March 16, 2022). The jail authorities later took her to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital, said Halima.

The prisoner was later referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Thursday (March 17) when her condition deteriorated. She died at 3:30 pm yesterday while undergoing treatment at the hospital, added the jail super.
