Manikganj madrasa principal, 2 teachers arrested for trying to cover up student’s rape

Three teachers, including the principal, of a madrasa were arrested last night for attempting to cover up the rape of a nine-year-old student and helping the accused teacher escape, at Singair in Manikganj.

The arrestees are Mufti Saiful Islam, principal of Alinagar-Waiznagar Muhammadia Madrasa and Orphanage in Chandahur union of the upazila, and teachers Mufti Abdul Awal and Qari Saiful Islam, reports our Manikganj correspondent quoting Shafiqul Islam Mollah, officer-in-charge of Singair Police Station.

"Teacher Md Ramzan Ali had raped the boy several times. On September 11, he raped the child once again in the madrasa, which the victim later disclosed to others," said the OC.

"We went to the spot and arrested the three teachers for helping the accused rapist escape and for trying to cover up the crime through settling the matter internally," he added.

"Ramzan's hometown is in Pabna. The victim's grandmother has already filed a case at Singair Police Station and the arrestees were sent to jail through court," said OC Shafiqul.
