Man pretending to be NSI official held in Ctg

Police and National Security Intelligence (NSI) officials of Chattogram metro unit, in a joint drive today, detained a man who, impersonating as an NSI official, swindled money from people.

The detainee, Md Asiful Ahsan Rabbi, was held in front of Chattogram Divisional NSI office at GEC area around 7:30pm, Shahinuzzaman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Khulshi police station confirmed to our local staff correspondent.

Police also recovered a set of walkie-talkie, two fake NSI ID cards, visiting cards, and some cash from his possession.

"Pretending to be an NSI field official, the fraudster took money from different people in the name of giving a job. This evening, he came in front of the NSI office to confirm to a group that he genuinely was an NSI official and during that time, on-duty NSI officials detained him," said the OC.

Police are conducting drives to detain other members of the fraudulent gang and recover the remaining cash.
