Man dies after falling from hotel rooftop

An engineer died after falling from the rooftop of InterContinental Dhaka hotel yesterday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Subrata Saha, 53.

Subrata was an official of the hotel's engineering section, said Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ramna Police Station.

"We came to know that he died after falling from the rooftop. We will investigate whether it is a case of suicide or accidental death," OC Monirul told this correspondent.

On information, law enforcers rushed to the spot around 12:30pm and recovered the body, he added.

The police official also informed that the crime scene unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has collected evidence from the spot.

The body was then sent to Dhaka Medical College (DMC) morgue for an autopsy, he added.

The hotel authorities could not be contacted for comments.
