Law enforces looking for Cumilla imam
He was ‘linked’ with 7 youths who went missing earlier
Law enforcers are looking for the imam of a Cumilla mosque because of his "links" with the seven youths who went missing from the district last month.
Shah Mohammad Habibullah, imam of Koba Jame Mosjid, has been missing since September 12, said Rab Commander Major Mohammad Sakib Hossain.
He has links to the seven youths, Sakib added.
Saiful Haque, general secretary of the mosque management committee, said, "Habibullah went on a two-day leave on September 10, but never returned."
Habibullah is from Laxmipur village of Cumilla. His brother Shah Mohammad Waliullah, lecturer of a madrasa, said, " My brother went missing on September 12. I filed a general diary with Cumilla Sadar South Police Station. We do not know whether he has connection to banned Islamist groups."
Earlier, Nurul Islam, father of a missing student of Cumilla Victoria College, said his son used to frequent the mosque where Habibullah worked.
Seven youths went missing from Cumilla city on August 23. Counterterrorism officials later found their links with banned militant outfit Ansar al Islam.
