‘Iqbal likely prompted to place the Holy Quran at Cumilla puja mandap’

Iqbal Hossain, identified as prime suspect of placing the Holy Quran at a Cumilla puja mandap, might have been prompted by someone, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said today.
"We do not believe he (Iqbal, who was identified from CCTV footage collected by police) did it without any direction or instigation. We believe that if we can catch him, we will know everything," the minister told reporters at his Secretariat office.
"He is not using a mobile phone. Those who sent him there (to the puja mandap) might be hiding him. We are trying to locate him," he said while replying to a query.
"Our experienced team has extensively analysed (footage) and confirmed that the person, who brought the Quran from the mosque, did this. From what we have seen, he placed the Quran (at the mandap) and left with a 'goda' (mace) on his shoulder," he said.
The home minister reiterated that the incident was carried out with the motive to destroy communal harmony.
Police said Iqbal was identified as prime suspect of placing the Holy Quran at Nanua Dighir Par puja mandap in Cumilla city. He is yet to be arrested.
Iqbal (30) is a resident of Second Muradpur-Laskarpukur area of Ward-37.
