Husband stabs wife to death in N’ganj for “wanting to go abroad for work”

A man stabbed his wife to death in the early hours of Tuesday (September 27, 2022) in Fatullah union of Narayanganj Sadar upazila for "wanting to go abroad for work".

The deceased, Najma Begum (40), was an expatriate worker, from Khodabokshokathi village under Bakerganj upazila of Barishal, our Narayanganj correspondent reports quoting Fatullah Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rezaul Haque Dip.

Their son filed a case today where he mentioned that Najma Begum was stabbed to death for wanting to go abroad for work.

The incident took place around 3:00am on Tuesday in Fazelpur area, police said.

Kawsar Ahmed Tuhin (45), husband of the deceased and a van driver by profession, has been absconding since the incident, he said.

Their son Nazmul Islam Robin, filed a murder case with Fatullah Model Police Station in this connection.

According to the case statement, Najma Begum had been living abroad for a long time to earn a living. She returned home from Saudi Arabia two years ago and was scheduled to leave for Dubai on September 30 for work.

However, Kawsar had objected to Najma going to Dubai and during an argument on Tuesday morning, he stabbed her to death.
