The High Court today rejected a writ petition that sought its directive on the government to take necessary steps to prevent eavesdropping and recording of private phone conversations.

The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order as it has earlier heard arguments on the petition.

Details on which ground the HC rejected the petition could not be known immediately as its full text was not released yet.

During hearing on the same writ petition, the HC bench on September 14 said all concerned should be sincere about protecting the private communications of citizens.

Ten Supreme Court lawyers on August 10 this year submitted the writ petition as a public interest litigation to the HC.

The lawyers who submitted the petition are Rezowana Ferdose, Uttam Kumar Banik, Shah Navila Kashphi, Farhad Ahmed Siddiky, Mohammad Noab Ali, Mohammed Ibrahim Khalil, Mustafizur Rahman, GM Muzahidur Rahman (Munna), Imurl Kayes and Eakramul Kabir.
