Garment worker stabbed dead in Tongi

A garment worker was stabbed to death by miscreants in Tongi of Gazipur last night.

The deceased was identified as Abul Kashem (45) of Patshi village under Islampur Police Station of Jamalpur, reports our Gazipur correspondent.

The victim's brother-in-law, Solaiman, told The Daily Star that Kashem was living at a rented house in Tongi's Morkun area and had been working as a supervisor for Noman Fabrics-2. 

Kashem came under the attack in Morkun Tekpara area when he was returning home from the factory around 8pm, Solaiman said.

On receiving information, the relatives rescued Kashem and rushed him to Tongi Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital where doctor declared Kashem dead.

Confirming the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime-South) of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Mohammad Iltutmish, said police recovered the body and sent it to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College morgue for autopsy. 

There are deep injury marks in the chest and under the abdomen and back of the body.

Efforts were on to identify the miscreants from the footage of CCTV cameras, the police official said.
