Fugitive war criminal arrested in Dhaka

Anti Terrorism Unit of Police have yesterday arrested a war criminal of Mymensingh, who was sentenced to life in prison for crimes against humanity during the Liberation War.

A team of police arrested Md Fakhruzzaman from South Goran area of Dhaka around 10:00pm, ATU superintendent (media) Aslam Khan told The Daily Star.

He had been hiding since 2015.

On February 20 this year, the International Crimes Tribunal sentenced five people, including Fakhruzzaman, to life term imprisonment for war crimes in 1971.
