Fugitive death row war criminal arrested in Dhaka

Anti Terrorism Unit (ATU) of Police arrested a fugitive death-row war criminal in Dhaka yesterday (August 7, 2022).

On information, a team of police arrested Nazrul Islam from Shah Ali area, said Aslam Khan, superintendent (Media) of ATU.

The war criminal was on the run for the last five years, he said.

On July 28, a three-member bench of the International Crimes Tribunal led by Justice Md Shahinur Islam sentenced six people including Nazrul to death for murder, genocide and crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in Khulna.
