Former village police beaten dead in Manikganj

A former village police was beaten to death allegedly by his rivals over a land dispute in Shibaloy upazila of Manikganj today (October 1, 2022).

The deceased was identified as Faizuddin (65), a former village police of Ward number 5 of Shibaloy upazila's Arwa Union, said Noor-e-Alam, officer-in-charge of Shibaloy Police Station.

The incident occurred at South Salzana village this noon, the OC told our Manikganj correspondent.

Witnesses and family members of the victim said Faizuddin had a dispute with neighbour Abu Taleb over the ownership of 16 decimal land.

When Abu Taleb along with some associates tried to grab the land this noon, Faizuddin barred them. At one stage, they beat Faizuddin indiscriminately with local weapons, leaving him dead on the spot, the OC said.

The body was sent to Sadar Hospital for autopsy, the police officer said.
