Former driver of Money Plant played key role: DB

A former driver of Money Plant Link Private Ltd was among the two masterminds of the much-talked-about Tk 11.25 crore heist in Turag area from the company's microbus as it was on its way to refill ATMs in Ashulia.

Sohel Rana, the ex-employee, knew every detail of the company, specially about its officials' reluctance to arrange tight security or deploying gunmen while carrying crores of money.

He had a duplicate key with which the robbers opened the door of the microbus and looted over Tk 11 crore.

Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police said this after arresting three persons, including another mastermind identified as Md Akash, from Dhaka, Netrokona and Khulna in the last two days.

Two others are Milon Mia and Md Ridoy.

"Sohel is on the run but under the surveillance of the law enforcers. We are trying to arrest him," Harun Or Rashid, chief of the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told reporters at a press conference at DMP Media Centre today.

The DB teams also recovered Tk 58 lakh from the three arrestees.

With the latest arrest and recovery, law enforcers so far arrested 11 persons and recovered Tk 7.01 crore in this connection.
