An official of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) has been sued under the Narcotics Control Act, around one year and eight months after he framed a private university student with illegal narcotics.

DNC additional director Ahsanur Rahman on October 14 filed the case with Khilkhet Police Station against DNC sub-inspector Sheikh Mohammad Sazzad Hossain on charges of framing student Swapna Akter with 1,000 yaba pills in February last year, the court sources said today.

The move came after Ahsanur probed a narcotics case filed by SI Sazzad against Swapna and found the girl innocent during his investigation.

He later submitted a probe report to a Dhaka court recently, clearing the student.

On October 8 this year, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mosharraf Hossain accepted the final report and directed investigation officer Ahsanur to file a fresh criminal case against Sazzad within seven days.

The magistrate also relieved Swapna from the charges and asked the Criminal Investigation Department) to investigate the case.

On February 17 last year, Sazzad filed a narcotics case against Swapna with Khilkhet Police Station and arrested her in the case

In the case statement, SI Sazzad said he along with seven other officials went to Swapna's Khilkhet residence on February 16 last year and recovered 1,000 yaba tablets from her possession.

However, DNC additional director Ahsanur said, in his probe report, the SI himself possessed those yaba and did not recover any narcotics from Swapna.
