Disinformation on social media: Rab detains Badrunnessa College teacher for questioning

Rapid Action Battalion detained a teacher of Begum Badrunnessa Government Girls College for interrogation on charge of spreading on social media an old video footage of a murder in Dhaka's Pallabi as the killing of Jatan Kumar Saha during recent communal violence in Noakhali.

Ruma Sarker, an assistant professor of the college, has been taken to Rab Headquarters for quizzing, an SMS sent by ANM Imran Khan, assistant director of Rab's legal and media wing, reads.

The video footage is of the killing of a trader Shahin Uddin, who was stabbed dead by two youths in front of his son on May 16.

Several persons, including a former lawmaker, were arrested earlier in this connection.
