A day after murder, husband dumped body of actress Shimu and filed GD, police say
When Shakhawat Ali Noble strangled his wife, actress Raima Islam Shimu, on Saturday night, he was contemplating how to dispose of the body.
Noble stayed with the corpse the whole night and called his friend SMY Abdullah Farhad to his Green Road home the next morning, investigators said.
Together they put the corpse inside a sack and put it in a car, sending the security guard of the building out to bring breakfast, they added.
Later, they drove the car to Savar, Ashulia, and Mirpur Beribadh -- looking for a suitable place to dump the body. Failing to find one, they returned to Noble's house with the corpse in the afternoon.
"They waited till night and went out again with the car, and dumped the body at Keraniganj," said Shahabuddin Kabir, an additional superintendent of Dhaka District Police.
After dumping the body on Sunday night, Noble went to Kalabagan Police Station and filed a general diary -- stating that his wife was missing since Sunday morning.
"He strangled Shimu following a quarrel… He filed the general diary to divert law enforcers' attention," the police officer said, quoting the husband and his friend, who were arrested by police.
The body of the actress was found inside a sack near Hazratpur Bridge in Keraniganj, on the outskirts of the capital, yesterday.
Shahidul Islam Khokon, elder brother of the victim, said they spoke to her last on Saturday night.
HOW IT ALL WENT DOWN?
According to police officials, they got the clue of the murder from a plastic thread used to sew two sacks together to wrap the body.
While searching Noble's car, they found the plastic thread similar to the one used to sew the sacks.
The car was washed and bleached to remove bad odour, rising police suspicion.
After identifying the body with the help of technology, the officials collected evidence from the actress' house, a policeman said.
Police then took Noble in their custody for questioning where he admitted killing his wife, the police officials said.
