Contractor killed in Chuadanga over land dispute

A contractor was killed by miscreants in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga early today.

The deceased was identified as Kamal Hossain (65), son of late Jahan Master of Jehala village of the same upazila.

The incident occurred in Alamdanga upazila's Munshiganj Clinicpara area in the early hours, reports our Kushtia correspondent quoting Inspector Abdul Alim of Alamdanga Police Station.

"Miscreants beat him up and hacked him to death," Abdul Alim said.

Dr Ahsanul Haque, on-duty doctor at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital's emergency department, said that Kamal had been hacked multiple times. He died from excessive bleeding before arriving at the hospital.

Selina Khatun, Kamal's wife, claimed that Shadhin of the same village, and his family members, carried out the attack on Kamal over a land dispute.

"They threatened to kill my husband before Eid. The incident was reported verbally to the police," she added.

Meanwhile, police said that they have not received a written complaint yet.
