Arrest warrants issued against Habib Group chairman, 4 directors in Ctg

A Chattogram court has issued arrest warrants against five people, including the chairman of Habib Group, in a case file for Tk 1.8 crore cheque dishonour.

Chattoram Magistrate Magistrate Mehnaz Rahman passed the order today (August 8, 2022) against Habib Group Chairman Yakub Ali, directors Salman Habib Yasin Ali, Mashruf Habib and Tanvir Habib, reports our local staff correspondent quoting Nayeem Bhuiyan, panel lawyer of IDLC Finance Limited.

Despite several payments and summons issued to appear before the court, the accused did not appear, said Nayeem.

According to the case documents, A Tk1.8 crore cheque of Regent Textiles Mills Ltd (A Habib Group subsidiary) was dishonoured at IDLC Finance Ltd's Agrabad branch. Later, a case was filed in 2021 against the group chairman and four directors.
