Actress Shimu’s death: Husband, driver remanded

A Dhaka court today placed Shakhawat Ali Noble, husband of actress Raima Islam Shimu and his driver SM Farhad on a 3-day remand each in a case filed after recovery of her body in a sack yesterday.

Dhaka Judicial Magistrate Rabeya Begum granted the remand prayer after Investigation Officer Chunnu Mia, also a sub-inspector of Keraniganj Model Police Station, produced them before the court with a 10-day remand in the case, court sources said.

Earlier today, police detained her husband and the driver in connection with her death.

The body of the actress, who went missing a few days ago, was found inside a sack near Hazratpur Bridge in Keraniganj, on the outskirts of the capital, yesterday.

Shimu's brother Harunur Rashid filed a case against her husband Shakhawat Ali Noble and his driver SM Farhad along with some unnamed people today with Keraniganj Model Police Station in connection with the murder.
