44 fishermen detained

Members of the forest department in a drive detained 44 fishermen from Dubla area in the Sundarbans for entering the forest without prior permission.

The forest guards also seized four fishing trawlers and huge banned fishing nets during the drive on Monday night.

All the arrestees hail from different villages under Indurkani upazila of Pirojpur, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of the Sundarbans East Forest Department Mohammad Belayet Hossain said.
