3 men force woman to drink alcohol, rape her in Dhaka

Three men forced a woman to drink alcohol and raped her at a house in Dhaka's Rampura area last night.

The 25-year-old woman, mother of three, was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as she fell sick this morning.

The woman was called to a house in East Rampura area last evening by one of her acquaintances named Sharif, victim's brother alleged.

Sharif and his two associates -- Ibrahim and Mainuddin -- forced her to drink alcohol and raped her last night, he said, adding that another woman abetted the rape.

Victim's brother said his sister and Sharif had a cordial relation after her husband left her two months ago and moved to Barishal from Dhaka. Sharif promised her to marry and raped her earlier too, he said, quoting the victim.  

Last evening, Sharif called the woman to the house in Rampura where he along with his two accomplices raped her. The accused rapists let her go in the morning.

Her family members took her to hospital as she fell sick and told them about the rape.

Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Rampura Police Station said they got a complaint that several people gang-raped a woman after forcing her to drink alcohol.

"Her family members took her to hospital for treatment. We will record a case after her treatment," he said.

"We are investigating the complaints," he said, adding that several teams are working to detain the accused rapists.
