25 hurt in Jubo League, Jubo Dal clash over cable TV business in Savar

At least 25 people were injured in a clash between the supporters of a local Jubo League and a Jubo Dal leader over cable TV business at Ashulia in Savar today.

The clash took place at Machinepara area this noon between the followers of Ashulia Thana Jubo Dal Former President Abdul Hai and Ashulia's Shimulia Union Jubo League President Amir Hossain Joy, reports our Savar correspondent.

Locals said there had been a dispute between Jubo Dal leader Abdul Hai and Jubo League leader Joy's paternal uncle Ansar Ahmed over cable TV business for several months.

Recently, both the cable TV operators blamed each other for cutting each other's cable TV connection.

Witnesses said this noon, an altercation broke out between Ansar's nephew Joy, also Jubo League leader, and Abdull Hai at Ransthal village as a sequel to the issue.

At one stage, over 100 people led by Joy, equipped with homemade weapons, attacked the house of Abdul Hai. Later, Abdul Hai along with his followers attacked Joy's house.

At least 25 supporters of both the groups were injured in the clash. They were taken to different hospitals in Savar.

However, the correspondent could not reach Joy and Abdul Hai for comments despite repeated calls.

Md Ziaul Hasan Zia, inspector (investigation) of Ashulia Police Station, said on information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
