2 muggers held for stabbing private university student: police

Police arrested two alleged muggers, who stabbed a private university student and mugged her mobile phone in Dhaka's Badda area on Sunday night.

They arrestees are Imran Hossain and Md Shahjahan.

A team of police arrested the duo from Badda area last night, two days after they stabbed Arpona Akter Ety, a student of pharmacy department at East West University, said Abdul Ahad, deputy commissioner (DC) of Gulshan division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

Police also recovered two machetes, victim's cellphone from their possessions, the DC said.

Imran is accused in seven cases with different police stations while Shahjahan in one case, the DC said adding that the arrestees admitted their involvement in attacking the student.

Around 11:00pm on Sunday, a gang of muggers intercepted Ety on her way to home from a gym and stabbed her to take away her mobile.
