2 men arrested with 5kg crystal meth placed on 9-day remand

Two men, who were arrested with 5kg crystal meth, worth an estimated Tk 12.5 crore in Dhaka yesterday, were placed on a nine-day remand in narcotics and arms cases today.

The two accused are Mohammad Hossain alias Khokon and Mohamamd Rafique, both hailing from Teknaf in Cox's Bazar.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahinur Rahman placed Khokon and Rafique on a five-day remand in the narcotics case, while another Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan granted them four-day remand in the arms case, court sources said.

The two accused were produced before the court with a 10-day remand prayer in each of the two cases separately.

During a raid in the capital's Jatrabari yesterday, Rab-15 officers arrested them and recovered 5kg crystal meth and a pistol with five bullets from their possession.

Two separate cases were filed against the duo with Jatrabari under the Narcotics Control Act and the Arms Act.
