1 stabbed dead, 2 injured over property dispute in Kamrangirchar

A youth died and two others were injured after being stabbed by sharp weapons over property related dispute at Koylaghat area of Kamrangirchar in the capital this (October 2, 2022) afternoon.

The deceased, Bhatija Munna (36), an employee of a shop in Chawkbazar, died at 7:15pm at the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Inspector Md Bacchu Miah, in-charge of the hospital's police outbox confirmed to The Daily Star.

The incident took place around 5pm at a house on Koylaghat Tara Masjid Road.

The deceased's two brothers--- Baha Uddin Sanjid (34), a private car driver, and Morsalin Hossain (32), an internet businessman—are now undergoing treatment at DMCH.

Quoting the injured, their distant cousin Md Sanju Ahmed said that they had a dispute with their uncle Palash Ahmed over the property of their house for a long time.

"Palash is constructing a building there. However, he left no space near the building. Regarding this, three cousins---Munna, Sanjid and Morsalin—asked his uncle to stop the work which apparently made him angry," said Sanju.

At one point, Palash, his wife Salma and several others attacked them with sharp weapons and stabbed them indiscriminately, Sanju added.

They were rushed to DMCH where on duty doctor declared Munna dead.

Inspector Bachchu Miah said Munna had stab injury on the left side of his stomach while Sanjid had stab mark in the head and Morsalin had stab marks in the chest and hands.

Mostafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kamrangirchar Police Station, said a nephew was killed by his uncle over a property dispute.

"Several people have been arrested in this connection," he said, adding that investigation is underway regarding the incident.
