Two children drown in Panchagarh

Bodies of two children were found floating in a pond last night, near their house in Boda upazila of Panchagarh.

The incident happened in Badeshwari Majhapara area under Barashashi union of the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Muhin Khan (3) and Kulsum Akhter (2), reports our Thakurgaon correspondent quoting Barashashi Union Parishad Chairman, Afzal Hossain.

Quoting deceased's family, Afzal Hossain told The Daily Star that Muhin was playing outside his grandfather's house with his cousin Kulsum. Later they went missing.

After a couple of hours of searching, family members discovered their bodies floating in the pond adjacent to their home, Afzal said.

Family members believe the children fell into the pond while playing, the chairman added.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Boda Police Station, Abu Saeed Chowdhury, confirmed the incident.
