Train derails in Brahmanbaria, Dhaka-Sylhet-Ctg rail link snapped

Train communication between Dhaka, Chattogram and Dhaka, Sylhet remains suspended following an oil tanker derailment at Brahmanbaria Railway Station this afternoon.

The Chattogram-bound oil tanker train from Dhaka veered off the trucks near Brahmanbaria Railway Station around 5:05pm, our local correspondent reports quoting Jasim Uddin, assistant station master of the railway station.

Station Master Md Rafiqul Islam said train movement on the down line remains stopped for the time being due to the derailment.

There is no problem in the up-line for moving Dhaka-bound trains from Chattogram and Sylhet, he said.

The official said the relief train at Akhaura railway station has started to salvage the derailed train.
