One dead as bus plunges into ditch in Satkhira

A bus conductor died and at least 10 passengers suffered injuries when the vehicle fell into a roadside ditch in Tala upazila of Satkhira today.

The deceased was identified as Rana Sardar (30), of Dhulihar village in Satkhira Sadar upazila, reports a correspondent from Satkhira.

Abdur Rashid and Kalipad Sarkar, who witnessed the accident, said the Khulna-bound bus plunged into the ditch in Shakdah area on Satkhira-Khulna highway around 11:30am.

On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body of Rana, Mohammad Nazmul Huda, officer-in-Charge (OC) of Patkelghata Police Station, said, adding the injured were sent to various clinics and hospitals in the upazila.

Among the injured, five were identified as Sajjad Sardar (50), Farhaduzzaman (24), Nowsher Ali (75), Al Amin (28), and Ranjit Karmaker (40).
